The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) declared the results of the PUC II Exam 1 on April 8, 2025, bringing both cheers and emotional moments to thousands of families. Of the 6,37,805 students who appeared, 4,68,439 students passed, with an overall pass percentage of 69.16%. While the percentage saw a dip from 81.15% in 2024, the stories of success from rural Karnataka have become a beacon of hope.

🎓 Sanjana Bai – The Star from a Forgotten Village

Leading the state from a remote hamlet is Sanjana Bai (18), a student from Gund Station, a barely-known village with only 20 households in Vijayanagara district. The village, five kilometers off the road from Mariyammanahalli near Hospet, has long suffered from a lack of basic amenities — no proper school, healthcare, or livelihood.

But April 8 marked a turning point.

Sanjana, daughter of a lorry driver, scored 99% (597/600) in the Arts stream, topping the state and bringing pride to her underdeveloped community. She attributes her success to her college’s secretary, HM Veerabhadrappa, who constantly motivated her to aim for the UPSC exams and return as an IAS officer. Sanjana’s success is more than just marks — it’s a symbol of what determination, mentorship, and education can do for underprivileged youth.

“No one from my village ever passed Class 12. I want to change that reality,” says Sanjana.

Among other toppers is the son of a small-scale farmer from Northern Karnataka, who secured over 590 marks, proving that financial hardship is no barrier to academic excellence.
