Bollywood debutant Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, has finally spoken out about the online backlash surrounding his first film Nadaaniyan. Despite high expectations and a prestigious launch under Karan Johar’s banner, the romantic comedy received mixed reviews and became a target of online trolling.
In a recent interview with Filmfare, the 24-year-old actor addressed the criticism with honesty and maturity. Ibrahim explained that Nadaaniyan was never meant to be a grand cinematic experience but rather a light-hearted rom-com designed for casual weekend viewing.
“People go into the film with very high expectations of what it should be,” he said. “It was not meant to be some big film. It was intended to be a sweet, breezy rom-com that you enjoy on a Friday night, just relaxing in bed.”
Ibrahim also opened up about the harsh online reactions and the pressures of social media, calling it a “hateful world.” He noted how both he and the film were subjected to relentless negativity. “They tried to twist it a lot,” he said. “As a lead actor, I do understand that I have to bring much more to the table, and I’m confident I will do so in future projects. But I’m proud of what we made.”
Despite the criticism, Ibrahim stood firmly behind Nadaaniyan, describing it as a “good film” made with dedication and sincerity. “I get the criticism, but I enjoyed working on it. It was meant to be sweet and breezy, and I would still say it’s a good film,” he added.
As Ibrahim continues his journey in Bollywood, his grounded perspective and openness to growth have impressed many. While Nadaaniyan may not have received glowing reviews, the young actor’s response showcases promise for a stronger and more refined performance in the future.
