Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged global and domestic investors to take full advantage of India’s expanding economic potential, stating that the country is on a fast track to becoming the world’s third-largest economy. He made these remarks while inaugurating the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Saurashtra and Kutch regions in Rajkot.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that while many nations are struggling with economic uncertainty, India is witnessing an era of stability and confidence. He credited Gujarat for playing a crucial role in India’s development journey and highlighted the State’s consistent contribution to national growth.
“India is rapidly moving towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy,” Mr. Modi said, emphasizing that the country’s progress in recent years has been both swift and transformative.
Investors Asked Not to Miss Gujarat’s Opportunity
Calling Gujarat a land of immense business possibilities, the Prime Minister encouraged investors to act without delay. He remarked that those who fail to seize the current opportunities should not later regret their late entry into India’s growth story.
He noted that inflation remains under control and highlighted India’s leadership position as the world’s largest producer of milk, vaccines, and several other products, including automobiles.
Mr. Modi also pointed out that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recognised India as one of the major drivers of global economic growth.
Digital Growth and Rising Middle Class
The Prime Minister said India has become the world’s largest consumer of data and that the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has emerged as the top real-time digital payment platform globally. He added that the rise of a new middle class with increasing purchasing power has turned India into a country filled with immense possibilities.
Recalling India’s manufacturing progress, he said that the nation, once dependent on mobile phone imports, is now the second-largest manufacturer of mobile handsets in the world.
Massive Participation in Vibrant Gujarat Conference
The event is expected to witness the signing of more than 1,500 memorandums of understanding (MoUs). Over 110 international buyers from 16 countries, including the United States and several European nations, are participating in the conference, reflecting strong global interest in Gujarat’s industrial potential.
Somnath: Symbol of Strength and Resilience
Earlier in the day at Somnath, Mr. Modi said that forces opposing the reconstruction of the Somnath temple after Independence are still active. He urged the nation to remain united, alert, and strong to counter such elements.
Speaking at the “Somnath Swabhiman Parv,” organised to mark 1,000 years since Mahmud of Ghazni’s attack on the Somnath Temple in 1026, the Prime Minister said Somnath’s history represents resilience and victory, not defeat. He stated that while fundamentalist invaders have faded into history, the Somnath temple continues to stand tall as a symbol of India’s enduring spirit.
Gujarat’s Strengths and Semiconductor Project
At the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference, Mr. Modi reiterated that every region of Gujarat has its own unique strengths, making the State a preferred investment destination. He announced that India’s first semiconductor fabrication facility is taking shape in Dholera, Gujarat.
He stressed that along with infrastructure, building an industry-ready workforce is essential. Gujarat, he said, possesses the necessary skills to meet this growing demand.
Focus on Saurashtra and Kutch
The Prime Minister also encouraged investors to explore opportunities in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions, describing them as emerging hubs for advancing the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
